A Friendship Train freight car bears the message "From the People of Sacramento Valley to Our Friends France and Italy." The other messages read "A nos Amis en France" and "Al Nostri Amici in Italy". In 1947, the Friendship Train was filled with donations from the U.S. collected for the benefit of European communities affected by World War II.
