Description
An aerial view of the Wood Street train yard in 1963 shows off an important spot in Chicago & North Western's operations in the company's home city. The company yards on Wood Street served as host to what was reported in the 1940s as the "world's largest potato yard." Potatoes would be transported to the yards, and they also hosted a market where potato growers and brokers would get down to the business of connecting crops with buyers.
